An Taisce (The National Trust for Ireland) has announced their International Blue Flag beneficiaries for 2024. The Blue Flag is obtained by beaches and marinas that have displayed high environmental standards and good hygiene.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange Thunderstorm warning for Mayo. This comes after a Status Yellow Thunderstorm warning was issued for Connacht earlier today.

Candidates for the upcoming local elections had to have their nominations lodged by last Friday evening, May 16. In Mayo, a total of 73 candidates will seek the 30 seats on the county council when the local elections are held on Friday, June 7.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Thunderstorm warning for Connacht. The new weather warning also includes Cavan, Donegal and Longford as the counties that could be affected by heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and hail.

Met Éireann has stated that Monday morning (May 20) will be dry and bright with plenty of sunny spells around Mayo and Connacht.  A few showers will develop this afternoon, turning rather heavy and thundery at times.
