Ballina student receives prestigious scholarship

Eoghan Durkan

A student who completed his Leaving Cert at St Muredach’s College, Ballina earlier this year has been awarded a prestigious scholarship.

Eoghan Durkan from St Muredach’s Leaving Cert class of 2024 was awarded with the prestigious Naughton Scholarship. He has since gone on to study at University College of Dublin.

The Naughton scholarship was established by Martin and Carmel Naughton in 1994 and supports students aiming to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) at Third Level in Ireland.

“We are incredibly proud of Eoghan's achievement and wish him all the best as he continues his studies at UCD,” said his alma mater on their Facebook page.

It marks the continuation of Eoghan's exciting academic journey which took him to Riyadh in Saudi Arabia in July of this year to represent Ireland in the International Chemistry Olympiad.
