The site, located near St Patrick’s Church on Slí Ectra Road, will see a mix of houses developed by the Land Development Agency (LDA) in partnership with Mayo County Council.
The news was confirmed by Senator Mark Duffy, who says this represents significant progress for Ballina and other regional towns, with the LDA broadening its remit of state-led housing delivery beyond the larger urban centres.
“For too long, families in towns like ours watched major housing projects go only to the cities. By expanding the LDA’s remit, we have ensured that affordable, high-quality homes can now be built where they are needed most,” said Senator Duffy, adding the proposal would deliver for “local families, first-time buyers and those on the social housing list”.
“I would encourage Mayo County Council and the LDA to move swiftly ahead to help ease housing pressures in North Mayo,” said Duffy.
