Passing of respected retired Mayo school principal

The late Seán Ó Conghaile

The death has taken place of Seán Ó Conghaile, the highly respected retired principal of Coláiste Muire, Tuar Mhic Éadaigh.

Mr Ó Conghaile, formerly of Prospect Hill, Galway died yesterday (Thursday) in the care of Mayo Hospice.

A passionate advocate for the Irish language and education in Tourmakeady, Mr Ó Conghaile is predeceased by his sister Kathleen and his brother Mícheál and his parents Éamonn and Síle.

He is mourned by his wife Áine (née O’Hora, Tuam), children Eoin, Colm and Tríona, daughters-in-law Colette and Tanya, son-in-law Eoin, grandchildren Kate, Ciara, Seán, Clíodhna, Cóilín, Rónán and Fíadh. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Pauline, Barbara and Marion and his brothers Noel and Tony and all his nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.

Reposing at Halla Thuar Mhic Eadaigh (F12 C6F2) on this evening (August 28) from 6pm to 7.30.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29 at 11am in St Mary’s Church, Tourmakeady. Cremation will take place afterwards.
