COMMUNITY NOTES: BALLINA - WESTERN PEOPLE (MAY 20 EDITION)
It has been confirmed that Mayo Fleadh Cheoil will be held in Ballina again next year, following the outstanding success of the 2025 event which took place in the town earlier this month.
Bofield Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann will host the Fleadh.
The hard work of Bofield CCE members and partner groups has resulted in Ballina achieving much praise for its organisational skills, and the Connacht Fleadh staged in Ballina in 2023 as part of the celebrations to mark the 300th anniversary of the town’s formal establishment was a very positive achievement for all involved.
The 2025 Mayo Fleadh Cheoil included sessions and concerts across various venues in Ballina, street busking, a gig rig at Market Square and competitions in the impressive facilities of the new St Mary’s Secondary School.
Meanwhile, a campaign to bring the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil back to Ballina is ongoing. Ballina last staged this mammoth national event in 1997 and 1998.
