Two games took place in the Mayo Club Championship today and the first of our finalists in the Senior and Intermediate finals in three weeks time have been revealed.

Saturday

Mayo Senior Football Championship

Semi-final

Castlebar Mitchels 1-16

Breaffy 0-14

There was no love lost between near neighbours here and once again. Joe Forry's 12th minute goal put daylight between the sides that Breaffy simply could not close. Mitchels are back in a Senior Final for the first time since 2017 when they completed a three-peat of county title wins while for Breaffy, a long, long wait for a Moclair Cup rolls on into 2027.

Mayo Intermediate Football Championship

Semi-final

Ballinrobe 0-14

Moy Davitts 0-8

Ballinrobe dominated the first half but very nearly plotted their own downfall. The concession of a penalty and a black card on the stroke of half time, meaning they would start the second a man light, would have been an incredible double whammy to suffer but keeper Luke Jennings stepped up with an awesome save from the spot kick. Jennings fired two two-point frees in the second half that proved crucial. The loss of Cian McHale to a black card when the momentum was all with Moy Davitts in the 49th minute proved a killer blow for them.

Sunday

The identity of Mitchels Senior final opponents will be known tomorrow afternoon as Belmullet take on Garrymore in Ballina at 1pm.

Meanwhile, Islandeady and Kiltane will face off in their Intermediate quarter-final replay at 3pm in Parke. The winner faces Davitts in the semi-final to decide who will face Ballinrobe in the county final.
