Repairs required at MacHale Park following storm damage

Mayo GAA has requested that Mayo’s Allianz National League clash with Galway be played at an earlier time due to damage caused to the floodlights at MacHale Park.
A number of floodlights at the Castlebar ground have been seriously damaged in Storm Eowyn.
The Mayo senior footballers are scheduled to take on Galway at 3.45pm on Sunday with the game also set to be aired on television.

that the county board has contacted Croke Park seeking an earlier throw-in for the encounter.A number of floodlights were knocked out in the storm and Mayo GAA are unsure when they will be back in action.
A section of the roof of the stand was also damaged but that will be repaired ahead of Sunday’s match.
“The lights won’t be fixed and we have put in a request to have the game played earlier,” Mr Walker told the Western People.
“We will have to wait and see what Croke Park comes back with. We can’t just put a time on it. It’s up to Croke Park,” he added.
The Mayo hurlers had their game with Cavan called off at the weekend due to the repairs that are required at MacHale Park.
Elsewhere, the Connacht GAA Air Dome was destroyed during Storm Eowyntarget="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> while the stand at McGovern Park in Newport, home of Burrishoole GAA club, collapsed under the force of the storm.
