WATCH: Storm Éowyn tracks towards Mayo with destructive gusts predicted

Storm Éowyn is on the way to Ireland as the country prepares to feel its force.

A Status Red Wind warning will be in place for the country during the early hours of Friday morning as the severe storm is expected to bring extreme, damaging and destructive gusts in excess of 130km/h.

Met Éireann has issued a red weather warning for Mayo from 4am on Friday, January 24 until midday the same day.

A Status Orange Wind warning will also be in place from midnight until 4pm on Friday.
