Sunday

Mayo Senior Football Championship

Semi-final

Garrymore 2-16

Belmullet 2-15

An all-time great Mayo knockout game took place in Ballina today and after extra-time, Garrymore emerged victorious against Belmullet. Gary Golden’s goal drew the game level coming to the end of normal time and after a gargantuan effort from both sides, the south Mayo side finally came out on top, booking a final place against Castlebar Mitchels.

Mayo Intermediate Football Championship

Quarter-final replay

Islandeady 2-21

Kiltane 2-13

As the end of second half injury time approached, Islandeady stared down the barrel of a 2-11 to 0-15 defeat in this quarter-final replay until Brendan Gibbons had his say and found an equalising goal. It had the effect of sapping the life out of Kiltane, who were missing many key players through injury, coming into extra time. Man of the match Seamie Lally’s goal in the extended period was the icing on the Islandeady cake in an eight-point victory, who now face Davitts in the semi-final.

Saturday

To recap, here is what went down in the Mayo Club Championship on Saturday.

A Joe Forry goal helped Castlebar Mitchels on their way to a first Senior Final since 2017 against neighbours Breaffy.

Ballinrobe’s goalkeeper Luke Jennings saved a penalty and scored two vital two-pointers in the second half to help overcome a misfiring Moy Davitts, whose hunt for the Sweeney Cup goes on into 2027.
