Last Friday, Gardaí attached to the MRL drugs unit in Mayo, executed a search warrant at a premises in Ballina. A large quantity of suspected Herbal Cannabis was seized and will be sent for analysis to Forensic Science Ireland.

Six councillors have been elected to the Claremorris Municipal District in the 2024 Mayo County Council elections. Four incumbent councillors have returned to the Council with two newcomers set to serve for the next five years.

Hollymount Independent councillor Patsy O’Brien has been the first elected in the Claremorris electoral area, exceeding the quota of 1,954 on the first count - picking up 2,739 votes.

The first two candidates in this year’s Mayo County Council elections have been elected this evening. Independent councillor Michael Kilcoyne topped the poll once again in the Castlebar constituency.
