A Castlebar councillor has claimed that the lack of road markings in the county town is proving “a disaster”.

Mayo County Council has been asked to look into three areas in the Castlebar Municipal District where flooding is a problem.

A number of people have made complaints about the state of the Castlebar River, according to a local councillor.

Members of Castlebar Municipal District are calling on the public to refrain from littering cigarette butts around the town.

Several councillors spoke in support of a group of protestors who attended the most recent meeting of Mayo County Council to call for the local authority to bring forward more measures to address the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Ballina-based industry Hollister has lent its support to Mayo Mental Health by recently presenting the charity with a cheque for €5,000.

Investigations are ongoing.

Councillors in Castlebar are calling on the owner of a company whose articulated truck is regularly parked on a cycle lane on the Pontoon Road to attend the next meeting of the authority to address the matter.

A councillor has called for Mayo Co Council to install panels featuring street art to enhance the Market Square area of Ballina. Cllr Annie-May Reape called for the installation of panelling between the car park and public realm area at Market Square.
