A total of 159 fixed charge notices – the term to describe fines for motoring offences - have been issued for the station of Ballyhaunis from January 1st to December 18th this year, according to the Garda Press Office.
That suggests that Gardaí have been handing out more fines for parking infringements and other motoring offences in the town given a total of 56 fixed charge notices were issued in Ballyhaunis in the period December 31st, 2022 to June 11th, 2023.
Some 116 fixed charge notices (FCNs) were issued in the town of Ballyhaunis from the period of December 31st, 2021 to June 11th, 2022. An FCN comes with a fine of €40 but doesn’t result in penalty points on a driver’s licence.
Gardaí in Ballyhaunis have in recent years collaborated with Mayo County Council to reduce congestion with a move against parking on double yellow lines.
