Alan Dillon TD has announced that the Department of Education has confirmed that initial project approval has been granted for the extension and refurbishment of the existing school building of Glencorrib National School.
The extension would include a mainstream classroom and a reconfiguration of two smaller rooms to provide a second mainstream classroom.
Dillon said: "Congratulations to Principal Orna Friel, her Board of Management, and staff on this successful application. This will provide much-needed accommodation for the school."
