At 5:30 p.m. yesterday, the Mayo Mountain Rescue team was called out by An Garda Síochána to help a woman who was about 30 minutes from the bottom of Croagh Patrick.
She was very cold and unable to walk any further, so her husband called 999 for Mountain Rescue. They had been climbing the mountain since noon.
At 6:30 p.m., the first response team located the exhausted woman on the track, approximately 30 minutes from the main car park. They provided immediate emergency care while our stretcher party made their way to her location. The mountain rescue team stretchered the woman safely to a waiting ambulance in Murrisk.
Mayo Mountain Rescue send their best wishes to this woman for a speedy and full recovery.
