'Keep an eye out' - Defibrillator damage in Mayo town

"This is the first time in over 16 years that we’ve had an issue like this since establishing the Ballyhaunis Defibrillator Group in 2009."

Ballyhaunis Defibrillator Group has announced that someone has attempted to remove the defibrillator box from the wall at the Church, and the defib unit itself was taken from the box and later found discarded near The Dalgan.

Their Facebook page said: "While we have recovered the defibrillator and the carry bag some key items are still missing.

"This is the first time in over 16 years that we’ve had an issue like this since establishing the Ballyhaunis Defibrillator Group in 2009.

"Our community has always been incredibly supportive in maintaining and safeguarding these lifesaving devices, which are there for everyone’s benefit in an emergency.

"We’re following up with local contacts to see if we can find out more, and in the meantime, we’d really appreciate everyone keeping an eye out to ensure our defibrillators remain available and accessible when needed.

"A big thank you to all who continue to support the group. Incidents like this remind us how vital it is to maintain our defibrillators, and if you’d like to get involved—whether through fundraising, membership, or simply spreading awareness—please get in touch.

"Let’s keep looking out for each other and for these lifesaving community defibrillators."
