Mayo's All-Star nominees revealed after magical year

11 players from All-Ireland Champions Mayo have been nominated for the PwC Football All-Stars covering every line on the field.
Mayo also have two players in the running for PwC GAA GPA Footballer of the Year. Belmullet’s Ryan O’Donoghue and Kilmeena’s Jack Carney will vie with Kerry’s David Clifford for the award.
In addition, two Mayo players have been nominated for PwC GAA GPA Young Footballer of the Year. Kobe McDonald of Crossmolina Deel Rovers and Darragh Beirne of Claremorris will go up against Louth’s Dara McDonnell for the award.
Jack Livingstone (Breaffy), who made his debut for Mayo during this year’s campaign, is in the running for a goalkeeping All-Star against Rory Beggan of Monaghan and Kerry’s Shane Murphy.
Five defenders have been nominated: Sam Callinan (Ballina Stephenites), captain Jack Coyne (Ballyhaunis), Enda Hession (Garrymore), David McBrien (Ballaghaderreen) and Donnacha McHugh (Castlebar Mitchels). Carney is Mayo’s sole midfield nominee and has been nominated alongside Kerry’s Mark O’Shea, Tyrone’s Conn Kilpatrick, Galway’s John Maher, Dublin’s Ciarán Kilkenny and Michael Langan from Donegal.
McDonald, Beirne, O’Donoghue are all nominated among the forward All-Stars with Jordan Flynn (Crossmolina Deel Rovers) also in the running.
The All-Star nominations were chosen by a group of Gaelic Games Correspondents from across print, radio, tv and digital media and was chaired by Uachtarán CLG, Jarlath Burns.
This will be the 55th year of the awards stretching back to 1971.
The PwC All-Stars will be presented at a gala black-tie event at Dublin’s RDS on Friday, 30th October, which will be shown live on RTÉ.
The 12-county breakdown is Mayo 11, Kerry seven, Dublin five, Westmeath four, Monaghan, Armagh and Louth three each, Roscommon, Cork, Galway and Tyrone two each and one from Donegal.
