For the first time in 18 years, Ballintubber will not make it out of the group stage as Aghamore booked their first quarter-final place since 2020, and a home game to boot, with a statement win.
Kobe McDonald made his first club appearance since Mayo’s All-Ireland win but it was not enough to see the men in maroon to victory as a draw with Mayo Gaels sees them through to the quarter-final as Group 3 runners-up.
Belmullet advanced to the quarter-finals as runners-up following a high scoring affair with Ballaghaderreen, who now face a relegation battle.
Knockmore became another big group stage casualty of the senior championship as Breaffy powered on to secure a home quarter-final.
Parke/Keelogues/Crimlin advanced to the quarter-final, and sent Hollymount/Carramore out in the process, with an excellent victory over the South Mayo side.
It was a one-sided affair in Tourmakeady as Ballinrobe eased into the quarter-final and sent Castlebar Mitchels 'B' out of the championship.
Shrule/Glencorrib secured a home quarter-final after a surprise win over Burrishoole, who also get a home quarter-final and top Group 2 in spite of the loss.
Despite a dominant victory over Moygownagh, Bonniconlon are eliminated from the junior ‘A’ championship due to an inferior score difference. Both clubs will now turn their attention to the upcoming junior ‘B’ campaign.
All ties take places the weekend of September 18/19/20. Dates, venues and times TBC.
