Last Saturday, the Mayo Mountain Rescue team was tasked by An Garda Síochána to assist a woman who had fallen on Croagh Patrick.

The woman sustained a head injury while descending the cone and was subsequently walked to the eastern end of the ridge path. As her condition began to deteriorate, emergency services were alerted.

The first response team arrived on the scene at the same time as the Coast Guard Rescue 118 . The casualty received immediate medical attention from the Coast Guard medic. With the assistance of the mountain rescue personnel, who provided high-line support, she was safely winched aboard the helicopter and transported to Mayo University Hospital.

Mayo Mountain Rescue extended their sincere thanks to Rescue 118 for their invaluable service and wished the injured woman a speedy and full recovery.
