Well-known Mayo hotel is put on the market

The popular hotel is up for sale.

A landmark West Mayo hotel is on the market with a €1.95m price tag.

Hotel Newport has been put up for sale.

Hotel property specialist, TDL Horizons, has been appointed to handle the sale of Hotel Newport, a three-star, 30-bedroom property located on Main Street in the heritage town which lies along the Wild Atlantic Way.

The hotel includes 30 en-suite bedrooms together with the Seven Arches Bar and Bistro, the Cobblers Restaurant, a dedicated function room and on-site parking.

The hotel’s floor area extends to approximately 31,000 sqft and its upper floors are accessible from multiple elevators.

It was constructed in 2005 as a purpose-built hotel during the Celtic Tiger era at a cost of some €5.5m.

The current vendors, Greenway Hotels, bought it about five years ago and undertook a €220,000 capital investment programme since 2021.

“Hotel Newport represents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-located, fully operational hotel in one of Ireland’s most scenic coastal towns,” she said.

“With the Great Western Greenway running directly through Newport, the property is ideally positioned to capture the growing demand for sustainable, activity-led tourism,” said Niamh Walsh of TDL Horizons.

It is the second major hospitality venue to come to market in Newport in recent times. In March, last year historic Newport House was put on the market with an asking price of €3m.
