WATCH: Magical Christmas surprise spotted in Mayo ahead of the big day

Christmas is just one week away as Santa and his reindeer are gearing up for their annual festive trip.

In Mayo, a surprise awaited one our of Western People columnists, Edwin McGreal, as he came upon four deer prancing across Dooega East on Achill Island last Friday.

As a matter of fact, Edwin even mentioned that they were heading north - probably on their way to the North Pole just in time for the big day!
