Mayo Roads Policing were recently back on the busy N17 when they detected two speeding vehicles.
The first vehicle was travelling at 170km/h and the second vehicle at 167km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The vehicles had also overtaken a number of vehicles at high speed.
These drivers now face a 2-year driving disqualification, a fine of up to €5,000, or up to 6 months in prison.
An Garda Síochána Mayo stated, "This is the second day in a row vehicles have been detected overtaking at high speed on the N17 in Mayo that has seen a number of serious road traffic collisions and road traffic fatalities over the last number of years. We ask motorists to slow down, drive safely, and arrive alive."
