Two events take place in Mayo this weekend.

Special whale watching events taking place in Mayo All-Ireland Whale Watch Day takes place this Saturday and two Mayo locations are among the vantage points where members of the public are invited.

This year marks the 24th year that the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) has run this fantastic nationwide event.

The group are inviting Mayo people to join them at 5pm at two whale watching locations in the county. Benwee Head car park, Kilcummin, and Ashleam Viewing Point, Achill Island, are the gathering points this Saturday.

The event comprises free and guided watches at local headlands and vantage points, as part of All-Ireland whale watch day.

It’s a great opportunity for people to experience the incredible whales, dolphins and porpoises found off our coast, while learning more about Ireland’s marine wildlife from local IWDG volunteers.
