Mayo Roads Policing Unit carried out speed checks and patrols on the N17 over the weekend as part of their Bank Holiday Road Safety Campaign.

Several motorists were detected travelling well above the 100 km/h speed limit, resulting in a fine and penalty points.

Another incident came to the notice of the Gardaí when the Garda ANPR system detected a vehicle with no insurance.

The vehicle was stopped by Gardaí, and the vehicle was subsequently impounded for no insurance. The driver will now face court proceedings.
