Seizure of vehicle following discoveries at major Mayo road checkpoint

As part of the May Bank Holiday weekend road safety operation, the Mayo Roads Policing Unit conducted high-visibility patrols, speed checks, and checkpoints.
Checkpoints took place on the N17 and N5.
An Garda Síochána Mayo stated that "one motorist decided to leave the N17 and take the scenic route upon seeing the Roads Policing checkpoint ahead.
"The same vehicle was stopped. The driver did not want us to see his expired NCT and dangerously defective front tyre.
"The driver was also informed that sticky tape and cable ties are not a permanent fix for a damaged front bumper and broken light."
As a result, the vehicle was seized.
