Planning granted for new Mayo funeral home

Mayo County Council has granted planning permission for the construction new funeral home in Belmullet.

McDonnell Funeral Directors has been given the green light for the funeral home on Hospital Road in the town.

The approved plans also include the construction of a new entrance, internal access road, street lighting, and parking facilities.

Permission was granted, subject to 16 conditions. These include noise control measures to protect nearby residents, as well as requirements relating to roadside drainage maintenance during the construction phase.

The long-standing family business, operated by brothers Sean and Padraig Conroy, is currently based on Lower Barrack Street in the town.
