Geraghty Boat Charters, a well-known name along the Wild Atlantic Way, is embarking on a new era.

Operating since 1993, this family-owned business has been a mainstay for those seeking maritime adventures in the tranquil waters of Blacksod Bay. Reflecting on three decades of memorable journeys, Josephine Geraghty says the time has come to pass the leadership to the next generation.

Established in the summer of 1993 with the launch of the 'Ave Marie' at Blacksod Pier, Geraghty Charters became synonymous with thrilling expeditions to the breathtaking Inishkea Islands, Achill Island, and exciting sea angling trips around Blackrock. The fleet expanded over the last 30 years with the addition of 'Fionnuala' and 'Noirín Bán', leaving behind a legacy of maritime experiences.

As Mattie and Josephine bid farewell to their role as captains, the spotlight now turns to their son Jason, who, along with his partner Katherine and daughters Maisie and Kitty, is set to lead Geraghty Charters into the next chapter.

Conveying sincere appreciation, Mattie and Josephine extend thanks to everyone who has been part of their remarkable journey.

Manager of Mayo North Tourism, Mairéad Melody Carr, extended her heartfelt gratitude to Mattie and Josephine for their unwavering dedication to tourism in North Mayo.

“Geraghtys welcome everyone as friends, and their captivating stories and warm hospitality have not only left a lasting impression on international visitors, the domestic market, and locals. Best wishes go to Jason, Katherine, Maisie, and Kitty for success in growing this business. On behalf of Mayo North Tourism, I express our appreciation for the Geraghty family's contributions and eagerly look forward to the exciting next chapter in Geraghty Charters' journey along Blacksod Bay and the Wild Atlantic Way.”
