Mayo road motorist arrested after being detected driving above 170km/h

Over the weekend, a motorist on a Mayo road was arrested for dangerous driving.
Mayo Roads Policing Unit detected a vehicle travelling at 174km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N17.
The driver was arrested, and they now face a 2-year driving disqualification, a fine of up to €5,000, or up to 6 months in prison.
An Garda Síochána Mayo stated that speeding at this level puts everyone on the road at risk.
