Mayo native Adrian Flannelly, who hosted the longest-running Irish radio program in the US, has passed away.

Flannelly presented his own radio show - the Adrian Flannelly Show - across America for 54 years before retiring from broadcasting last year.

Adrian, who was born in Attymass, emigrated to the United States in 1959, aged seventeen, and was heavily involved in Irish Community affairs.

The Long Beach, Long Island resident was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Irish America Magazine in 2019 while also receiving the 2021 Presidential Distinguished Service Award for his incredible contributions to the Irish community in America.

The influential Flannelly reached 2.5 million listeners nationwide at the height of the 1980s and 1990s and has been described as the voice of Ireland in America.
