Congratulations to Michael Neary who won the sweep on -36, just ahead of Mary Doyle and Dougie Cairns on -34, from 'The Players Championship'. Thanks everyone for taking part and there will be another sweep for 'The Masters' in a few weeks.
In the Golf Club Development Draw held on March 21, €1000 went to Mona Curry, €300 was won by The Moore family, Foxford, and €200 was won by Damian McGrath. The next draw will take place on April 4.
Results from card game held in Swinford Golf Club on Thursday, March 19, were as follows: card winners: 1st Michael and Mary Lynskey, 2nd Josie Prendergast and Helen Gallogly., shared 3rd prize Marty Munnelly, Martin McNeela, Esther Munnelly and Seamus Conwell.
Raffle prizes were won by Mary Callaghan, David Molloy, Francie Rowley, Michael Ryan x2, Margaret Waters, Geraldine Turbitt, Margaret Sweeney and Gerry Ronayne. Winners at table three were Ronan Monaghan and Carmel Timoney. All proceeds from the game went to Daffodil Day.
Swinford’s monthly Fair Night Session will take place in Padraig Horkan’s, Main Street on Wednesday night, April 1, from 9pm. Special guest this month is Caoimhe Kilkenny from Castlebar. Caoimhe is a brilliant fiddle player and a member of the All Ireland Champion Céilí Band The Piper’s Cross. Swinford Comhaltas are delighted to welcome Caoimhe to Swinford and look forward to a great night of ceol agus craic. Everyone is welcome.
Sing a Song with Bridie Rowley on Friday, April 24, at 7pm in The White House, Swinford. This special night will feature a selection of Bridie’s favourite songs, along with a beautiful songbook sharing her story and spirit, created especially for the occasion. All proceeds will go towards supporting Foxford Alzheimer’s and Community Trust CLG / FACT Social Club. All are very welcome, so, go along, bring a friend, and enjoy a heartfelt evening of music, memories, and community.

Trade stand applications are now open for Swinford Agricultural Show which will be held on August 23, at Gleeson’s Farm, Cullane. Catering and coffee, agri supplies and demonstrations, crafts, confectionary, artisan craft and food stalls. Public liability insurance must be in place. Results of Swinford Community lotto draw held on March 23, had the numbers 3, 22, 25 and 28 drawn. There was no jackpot winner. €70 vouchers were won by Annie Naughton, Crossmolina and C, K, P, L, Fraunhill. The jackpot is now €3,600.
The 14th annual Easter Sunday Easter Egg Hunt will be held in Brabazon Park at 2pm. Please park in the Amenity Park and follow the signs. Admission is free, but there is a donation box for charity on the day. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance. The day is sponsored by Eurospar and Swinford Tidy Towns.
Foxtrot is back on Sunday, April 19, at 1pm from the Foxford Leisure Centre. This year is a 5km fun run for all the family, with prizes and a raffle on the day. This is an opportunity to raise funds for Brenda Walsh Grealis as well as the local community. Brenda, originally from Callow, was recently diagnosed with PERM Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). This is an extremely rare, severe neurological disease that causes extreme muscle rigidity, painful spasms, and progressive loss of mobility. A gifted singer and musician, she is a wife and mother of four children. The communities of Callow, Foxford and the surrounding area are coming together with Foxtrot in an effort to raise much needed funds to assist Brenda and her family with this life changing condition. People living in Swinford who are interested in the town's future development are invited to share their views as part of a consultation exploring the possible establishment of a Swinford Community Council. This stage of the process is primarily about listening and gathering views, no decisions are being taken yet. Swinford GAA 2026 registration deadline is today, Tuesday, March 31. Adult players and parents/guardians of underage players, must register players by the deadline. Players cannot attend any training sessions or use gym if not registered. Any person that is involved with the club as a coach, manager, executive committee member must register on Foireann by the deadline.
Swinford Killasser LGFA registration deadline is today, Tuesday, March 31. The LGFA governing body is very strict on the registration deadline. Any player not registered by March 31, will not be able to train or play from that date, as 2025 membership insurance expires on March 31. Membership is open to parents/guardians and the wider community. Anyone involved as a coach, manager, executive committee member or liaison/sign-in officer must register on Foireann as an adult non-player by the deadline.

Results of the 74th Swinford St. Patrick’s Day Parade: Most Original (Pat Goff Memorial) went to Swinford LGFA, Most Humorous – Stingers, Most Topical - Swinford GAA, Best Local Business - Anthony Gleeson, Best School Involvement - Swinford NS band and juniors. Overall winner (Padraic Gavin Memorial Cup) went to Scoil Muire agus Padraig. Well done to everyone that took part in this year’s parade. It was one of the best. Huge thank you to all the sponsors, committee and everyone that helps on the day. Without you, the parade would not be the success that it is.

Durkan Bohola Community Park are hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4, at Bohola National School. The cost is €6 per child, multiples €5 and U2's are free. Registration is essential as places are limited - see link on Community Parks social media and all proceeds are in aid of Bohola National School.
Straide Community Development Group invite residents of the Straide community to attend an urgent meeting in the Straide Davitt Community Hall on Wednesday, April 8, at 8pm. This meeting is to address the future of the Straide Davitt Community Hall and issues related to it. All are welcome and attendance is greatly appreciated.
Durkan Community Park is taking part in An Taisce's national spring-clean anti-litter campaign. Meet at Sheridan Community Centre on Saturday, April 25, at 2pm.
