Awards for Mayo Tidy Towns communities

Gold Medal and Commended award presented by Minister Dara Calleary and Maighread Cremin, SuperValu to Marita Murtagh and Ann Cresham, Castlebar Tidy Towns. 

Mayo communities have been lauded for their efforts in enhancing local environments.

A series of special Tidy Towns awards were presented by the Minister for Rural Community Development, Dara Calleary.

The 2025 SuperValu TidyTowns awards for the North West and West region were presented at at a prize-giving ceremony in the Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim.

Mayo recipients include Balla, Ballyhaunis, Belmullet, Claremorris, Cong, and Westport with communities praised for their amazing efforts.

“I am honoured to be here this evening to present all the TidyTowns volunteers from the eight counties in the North-West and West region with their well-earned prizes from the 2025 competition. I had the pleasure of meeting many of you at the National Awards ceremony last October. There is no doubt that the great work undertaken by TidyTowns groups makes our towns and villages better places to live, work, visit and invest,” said Minister Calleary.

“In recent years, over 30,000 individuals have volunteered with TidyTowns groups. I have the greatest respect for the civic pride TidyTowns volunteers have demonstrated in such a selfless manner over the 68 years the competition has been running,” he added.
