The World Photography Cup takes place in Reykjavík, Iceland.

Mayo-based photographer Julia Dunin departs today for Iceland, where she will compete as one of Ireland’s four selected finalists at the World Photography Cup – the only female photographer on the Irish team, and the sole representative from Mayo and the West of Ireland.

Julia Dunin, a fine art and commercial photographer based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, has been selected to represent Ireland at the World Photography Cup in Reykjavík, Iceland – one of the most prestigious international photography competitions in the world. She travels today as a finalist, having earned her place on the Irish team through an exceptional portrait that was not only shortlisted but also awarded the distinction of Best of Nation.

With over a decade of experience, Julia specialises in fine art and advertising photography featuring women, with a focus on empowerment and representation. Her work has appeared in publications including Vogue UK, the Irish Independent, the Irish Times, and IMAGE Magazine, and her clients include Michelin-star restaurants and five-star hotels across Ireland and Europe. Her sustained fine art body of work includes the series Body as Landscape, which explores the relationship between the female form and the Irish landscape and has been awarded the Mayo Artist Bursary.

“It is a privilege to represent Ireland on an international stage, and I hope this recognition encourages more photographers – and more women in particular – from the West of Ireland to pursue their creative ambitions at the highest level. Mayo has extraordinary talent. It deserves to be seen.” – Julia Dunin

Julia’s accolades include awards IPPVA, the Irish Food Writing Awards, Food Photographer of the Year (UK), and Nikon Photographer of the Year (Poland).
