Investigations ongoing after discovery of a man's body in Mayo town this morning

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a man in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, on Thursday 7th May 2026.

Shortly after 9:00am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted after a male in his 30s was found unresponsive at a residential property in Castlebar. He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The Coroner and Office of the State Pathologist have been notified and the scene remains preserved.

A post-mortem examination will be arranged and the outcome will determine the course of the Garda investigation.
