Investigation into 'fossil' find on Mayo estate
The item was discovered by a fisherman.
Investigations are being carried out to identify a fossil found on the river bed of Mount Falcon fisheries.
The Ballina hotel posted about the discovery on social media today.
The item was found by a guest on the river bed and has already been studied by local anthropologists, archaeologists and geologists who are excited about the discovery.
It has been speculated that it could be from an ancient bear, wolf, or otter with the hotel in discussions with the National Museum of Ireland to try and identify the find.
