The Durkan Bohola Community Park is making major strides with works getting underway to complete a number of exciting projects taking place at the new community facility.
Works have officially commenced on a full-sized GAA field which includes goal posts, ball stop netting, flood lighting, pitch perimeter fencing and a footpath around the park.
The committee behind the park have confirmed that the contractor, Padraic McTigue, is now on-site with works progressing well. Weather permitting, they hope to have the new field seeded by August or September by the main pitch-laying contractor Prunty Field Specialists.
Preparation works will also begin on the second field which will settle for 12 months before surface installation is complete.
Another project making progress on site is the lighting of Micksey’s Way. Works will commence this month and will be carried out by Electric Skyline.
The committee thanked Minister Dara Calleary and his team for their assistance in securing €445,000 in Sports Capital Funding towards this project, First Choice Credit Union for funding of €27,000 and Cllr Neil Cruise for his GMA allocation of €8,000 towards Durkan Bohola Community Park.
“A sincere thank you to Bill Durkan for his unwavering support towards this project, which simply would not have happened without his continued commitment,” they added.
