Ballina pharmacist Sinéad Quinn has retired from Quinns Pharmacy on Pearse Street after many distinguished years working in the local community with the Pharmacy now set to take on a new name under new management.

Describing it as the “end of an era,” Sinéad posted her thanks to loyal customers and staff for their patronage and support down through the years.

“Thank you to all our customers, staff and family for your love and loyalty over the years. Dad and I have loved serving you,” she said.

Sinéad was highly regarded in Ballina and the surrounding areas for her kindness, advice and support over the years.

It is a new era for Quinns Pharmacy with Michael McEvilly taking over as new owner with his business partner Ian MacDonagh. The name of the business will now change to McEvilly’s Pharmacy, reflecting the change in ownership.

Michael, who is from Ballina, said he is excited to carry on the legacy left by Quinn’s and said that although the name is changing, the staff and pharmacy team will remain the same.

“I’m very excited to continue to provide the same excellent patient care and professional service that people have come to expect,” he said.

“It is my pleasure to be joining the pharmacy team here and I look forward to getting to know our patients and customers.” He also paid tribute to Sinéad Quinn on her retirement.

“I’d also like to take this opportunity to wish Sinead all the very best in her retirement. We’d like to thank her for everything she has done for the pharmacy and the community in Ballina over the years, and wish her all the happiness in her next chapter.”

Ian MacDonagh is also the owner of MacAuliffes Pharmacy in Castlebar, which is a well-established independent family run pharmacy in the county town.
