Decision made on Ballinrobe Races following inspection

"It is a disappointing outcome, but the team with Ballinrobe will now liaise with Horse Racing Ireland to reschedule the fixture in due course.”

Following an inspection earlier this morning, the course at Ballinrobe has been deemed unfit for racing, and the meeting scheduled for today, April 17th, has been cancelled.

IHRB Clerk of the Course, Shane Ryder, stated, “Following our inspection this morning, unfortunately, we have deemed the track at Ballinrobe unfit for racing today and the fixtures scheduled this evening has been cancelled. We had a further 13mm of rain overnight, which was slightly more than was forecast, and has left water lying in some parts of the track.

"There is a chance of further rainfall throughout the day, with another 5-6mm possible. It is a disappointing outcome, but the team with Ballinrobe will now liaise with Horse Racing Ireland to reschedule the fixture in due course.”

Racecourse Manager John Flannelly said, “The decision to cancel was not taken lightly, but the significant rainfall over recent days left us with no viable alternative. I know this will be disappointing, particularly as this was our opening fixture of the season, and I would like to thank the Ballinrobe team for their tireless efforts in the lead-up to the meeting.”
