Today's (Thursday, February 27) launch is taking place in Castlebar's Davitt College with a 2pm start time. Follow the live blog below for updates!

Emma Duffy, Grace Bailey and Sandra McFadden are among the guests on the second panel.

2.55PM

Alan Dillon TD is welcomed on stage ahead of the second panel. Dillon said: "The event is in its 16th year and it has been a tremendous success. It is inspirational to hear the enthusiasm and excitement for the event. We want to see more females participating in sports - the benefits of sports are fantastic."

2.45PM

Mary Cronin, the oldest participant to date, concluded the first panel's chat with Angelina by saying: "Get out, let's run and enjoy this mini-marathon!"

2.30PM

Mary Cronin, Sinead Flynn and Sarah Butler are on the first panel at the launch.

2.25PM

Former Mayo footballer, Andy Moran, is the next on stage. Moran gives advice to the pupils in attendance and encourages everyone to get involved.

2.20PM

Donna Sheridan (Cathaoirleach Castlebar MD) has been welcomed on stage. 

Cllr Sheridan said: "It takes a huge amount of people to make this mini-marathon successful. It is a lovely tradition to start doing the mini-marathon. This event is for the women of Castlebar and the whole county. This will be a flagship event for the town."

2.15PM

First up, MC Angelina Nugent welcomes Western People's Aidan McNulty to the stage ahead of the panel guests.

While speaking, Aidan said: "This event is about everyone taking part. We want everyone to get involved.  The Western People will have plenty of coverage in print and social media. Get out, and enjoy the mini-marathon with friends and family."
