All you need to know ahead of Sam Maguire’s visit to Ballyhaunis this week ​  

Mayo’s most famous piece of silverware will be making its way to Ballyhaunis this Thursday evening, with Sam Maguire set to draw a big crowd at the local GAA grounds.

Supporters will have the chance to get their photo with the trophy and meet some of the players at the home club of Mayo captain Jack Coyne.

The evening will run from 5pm to 8pm, and gates to the GAA grounds will open at 4:30pm.

The club has issued some information ahead of Thursday evening for those planning to attend, with a number of measures in place to help ensure the event runs smoothly.

Visitors have been reminded that the players are giving their time freely and are asked to respect this when joining them for photographs. A club photographer will take one photo per group or person.

The club has also reminded visitors that all stewards and club officials are volunteers and has asked everyone to listen to and respect their instructions.

All visitors are asked to follow stewards’ directions when parking on the club grounds and when leaving.

Any persons with a disability or additional needs can contact the club through its social media channels ahead of Thursday, or speak to a steward at the main gate on the day. The club said it will be ready to help wherever possible.

Children should also be supervised at all times.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone to the club grounds on Thursday,” the club said.

Sam’s visit comes just days after the official opening of the new Dawn Meats stand at Ballyhaunis GAA Grounds.

Lifelong clubman Paddy Waldron and Dawn Meats CEO Niall Browne officially opened the new stand on Sunday and cut the ribbon on the 168-seat covered facility.
