Mayo pubs triumph at Bar of the Year Awards
Westport pub Henehan's celebrating their success at the awards ceremony.
Three Mayo bars picked up awards at this year’s Bar of the Year Awards.
Henehan’s in Westport captured the prize for the Best Outside Space.
Fellow Westport pub, The Porter House took the Staff Personality of the Year Award with Gerry McCormack honoured.
“We couldn’t be prouder to see Gerry named Staff Personality of the Year,” said the pub in a post on social media.
“Gerry truly is the backbone of The Porterhouse and a huge part of what makes our place so special. Whether he’s joining in with the ice scoops during our music sessions, sharing one of his many stories, or more importantly taking the time to listen to the stories of our customers from near and far, Gerry brings warmth, laughter and heart to every day.
“A familiar face, a great character and a friend to so many, Gerry really is a pillar of The Porterhouse.
Congratulations, Gerry, this one is so well deserved. We are all incredibly proud of you,” the pub added.
The Prince of Wales bar at Ashford Castle, received a bronze accolade in the Five Star Hotel bar category.
The awards recognise the best that the 32 counties of Ireland have to offer in hospitality, with 31 categories. The awards took place at the Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road in Dublin.
