There is disappointment among Ballina Municipal District councillors over the transfer of the municipal manager to a new role in Castlebar.

Ballina may soon be home to an e-bike service similar to the Lime Bike offering in Castlebar and Westport.

Warm tributes have been paid to a Mayo publican who was at the heart of life in his community. Declan Nevin, of Mullaun, Newport, Co. Mayo and Nevin’s Bar, Main Street, Newport passed away peacefully on March 18 surrounded by his loving family.

The demolition of long-standing derelict buildings on Ellison Street in Castlebar has been welcomed. It is planned to put in place new housing on the site once the works are completed. The vacant units have been a significant blot on the streetscape.
