Proceeds of crime redirected to Westport Family Resource Centre

Fine Gael TD for Mayo Keira Keogh has welcomed €107,000 in Community Safety Fund funding for Westport Family Resource Centre.
The funding will support the Centre’s Westport Community Safety & Connection Initiative and forms part of the 2026 Community Safety Fund.
Deputy Keogh said:“I am delighted to see Westport Family Resource Centre secure €107,000 for its Community Safety & Connection Initiative.
“The Centre plays an important role in Westport, supporting individuals and families and helping to build a strong, connected community. I congratulate their project Co-ordinator Megan Burke and all the team involved in securing this significant investment.
“This funding is particularly welcome because it redirects the proceeds of crime seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau and An Garda Síochána back into our communities.
“It is right that money taken from criminal activity is put to positive use supporting organisations working on the ground to make communities safer and stronger.
“This €107,000 investment is also a recognition of the excellent work being done locally in Westport. Those working within our communities understand their needs and are best placed to develop initiatives that can make a real difference.

“As Chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Children and Equality, I particularly welcome the investment in CyberSafeKids. Keeping children safe online requires practical support for families and communities alongside wider action on online safety, and this funding will help that important work.” Nationally, €4.84 million has been allocated to 56 projects through the 2026 Community Safety Fund, an 8% increase on 2025 and a 146% increase since the Fund was established in 2022.
Deputy Keogh added:“This is a significant investment in safer and more resilient communities across the country, and I am very pleased to see Mayo benefiting directly.
“I want to again congratulate Westport Family Resource Centre and everyone involved in securing this funding.”
