The Ballina branch of Soroptimist International hosted an Orange Café event last week as part of its contribution to the Orange the World campaign, a movement which aims to raise awareness and combat violence against women and girls.

This year, 22 students were awarded graduation certificates upon completion of their bachelor’s degrees.

These offences relate to a stabbing in Ballina, Mayo, in March 2022.

Possible impacts include fallen trees, damage to power lines, very difficult travelling conditions, damage to temporary structures and wave overtopping. 

A local councillor said the burden on local communities to come up with 20% funding for a project is too great.

The fifth edition of the Western Star is available in all local shops from this week. 

Kerry, Clare, Galway, Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal have also been included in the orange weather warning.

The award is recognition for the pharmacy’s community outreach efforts.

Orlaith Heaney, from County Mayo, and a former student at Mount Saint Michael Secondary School, has been awarded a prestigious €24,000 scholarship from Trane Technologies Thermoking.
