Gardaí are at the scene of a collision on the N5 outside Castlebar. The accident occurred on the Turlough side of the new N5 roundabout on the approach to Castlebar. Motorists are being advised to use the route with caution this morning.

A local councillor has highlighted a traffic issue that is causing ongoing danger coming off the new dual carriageway from Castlebar to Westport.

Emergency services have attended the scene of a two vehicle collision near Swinford this morning. The incident occurred on the N5 at the turn off for Kiltimagh. Motorists are being advised by Gardaí to please proceed with caution.

A local councillor has called on Mayo County Council to move a road sign for the new N5 dual carriageway that he claims is in the wrong place and is blocking a light source for nearby residents.

It is hoped that an appraisal will be carried out next year on a dangerous road in East Mayo.

Some motorists have faced lengthy delays due to road resurfacing on the N5 between Knockatemple and Bohola. A number of motorists have complained about being held up for more than 45 minutes on the road due to tailbacks.
