Ballintubber U14 GAA side were beaten 3-18 to 5- 6 in an entertaining county final played at Kiltimagh pitch on Monday evening of last week. Ardnaree were in top class form on the evening and though Ballintubber tried hard to the final whistle, they were beaten by a more mature side that played some excellent football. It was a six point win for the Ardnaree boys but it could have been much narrower as Ballintubber in a tremendous second half rally scored four goals and were most misfortunate to miss three more. A word of congratulations is extended to Kiltimagh GAA Club for their marvellous facilities and superb organisation in all aspects of an underage Final presentation on the evening.

June 12 was a Momentous Day at Ballintubber Abbey and truly special for Fr Fahey, all the members, and the entire team at Ballintubber Abbey Trust. The morning marked a landmark moment in the story of the Abbey as the community welcomed the first of the builders from Cunningham Civil and Marine to site - signalling the official commencement of works on the entrance to the new Cultural and Heritage Visitor Centre. The occasion was beautifully and fittingly marked with a blessing on site by Fr Farragher, who offered a special prayer for every person who will play a part in bringing this wonderful project to life. It was a deeply moving moment, and one that felt entirely right for a place as sacred and storied as Ballintubber Abbey. The Abbey staff are absolutely thrilled to be working alongside the team at Cunningham Civil and Marine from Westport and they look forward to the exciting journey ahead together. This is more than a building project - it is the next chapter in the story of “The Abbey that refused to die”.
