The Linenhall Arts Centre is bringing world-class theatre to Mayo this Autumn.
Geared towards audiences aged 14 plus, ‘Ophelia. Maybe’ comes all the way from Australia thanks to Backyard Theatre Ensemble, and will be staged on Tuesday, October 3. This story, a Shakespearian experience with an Aussie twist, centres on two friends that share the same passion: acting.
Powerfully depicting life with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ‘OCD Me’ follows swiftly on Thursday, October 5. Performed by Laura Whelan and presented in collaboration with Mayo Mental Health Association, this autobiographical one-woman play showcases the realities of one person’s experience of living with this overwhelming and often debilitating disorder.
Another epic production with Australian roots awaits on Thursday, October 26, with ‘The Boy Who Talked to Dogs’, a harrowing, yet magical and mischievous story told with humility and honesty. Based on the best-selling memoir, this rough-and-tumble tale of transformation and redemption stars acclaimed Irish actor Bryan Burroughs.
Meet Bill and Fred, two professional and well-travelled adventurers, who struggle to actually embark on their adventures. One could not do it without the other, and despite their conflicts and misunderstandings they always manage to pull through. This absurd and joyful family show on Wednesday, November 1, reflects on relationships, forgiveness, compromising and friendships.
Finally, on Wednesday, November 8, witness Morag Prunty, aka bestselling author Kate Kerrigan, in her heart-warming, gut-wrenching and utterly hilarious one-woman play, ‘Am I Irish Yet?’
