Former Mayo All-Ireland winning manager set for Offaly post

Former Mayo All-Ireland winning manager Mike Solan is set to been appointed as the Offaly senior football manager on a three-year term.
The Ballaghaderreen native served as coach to the Mayo U21 team in 2015 before taking over as manager in October of that year, a role he held until 2020. During this time, Mayo won two provincial titles, in 2016 and 2018, and the All-Ireland U21 title in 2016.
Solan will be joined by coaches/selectors Joe Keane from Crossmolina and Offaly native Nigel Dunne.
Joe Keane worked with Mike as head coach of the Mayo U21 team in 2016 and 2017, achieving both provincial and All-Ireland success before joining the Mayo senior team under Stephen Rochford’s management.
Joe also worked as head coach with Sligo for seven seasons, with Paul Taylor and Tony McEntee as managers respectively. Joe joined Mike and the Longford management team as head coach for the 2025 season and was a key part of the team that achieved promotion.
Dunne guided Offaly to a Leinster football title last year, the county’s first in 35 years.
Solan’s nomination will be brought forward for ratification at the September County Board Meeting, which will be held in early September.
