Mayo venue to host wheelchair hurling camogie interpro league

On Saturday, September 5, Round 3 of the M. Donnelly GAA Wheelchair Hurling Camogie Interprovincial League, with throw-in scheduled for 11am, will take place in St Louis Community School Sportshall in Kiltimagh.
The event is being hosted by the Connacht GAA for All Committee in partnership with Co Mayo GAA and Mayo Sports Partnership and promises an exciting day of competition as teams from Connacht, Leinster, Ulster and Munster battle it out for league points.
The hosting of this event rotates annually between the five Connacht counties, ensuring each county can showcase and promote Wheelchair Hurling Camogie. This year, Co Mayo takes its turn in welcoming players, supporters and volunteers from across the country. A special word of thanks goes to St Louis Community School for the use of their Sportshall for this prestigious event and to Kiltimagh GAA Club for their support and cooperation.
Several dedicated Co Mayo GAA volunteers play a key role in the organisation of the day. These include the Chairperson of the Connacht GAA for All Committee, Denis O’Boyle (Claremorris), Ray McNamara (Islandeady), who serves as Mayo GAA for All Coordinator and who also works with the Mayo Sports Partnership and Co Mayo GAA Children’s Officer, Celia Rattigan (Breaffy). They are all members of the Connacht GAA for All Committee and are ably supported by the President of Connacht Council, Vincent Neary (Bonniconlon) Connacht GAA CEO, John Prenty (Ballyhaunis) and Mattie Kilroy (Caltra), Secretary of the Connacht GAA for All Committee.
Match officiating duties will be led by Eadhmonn Mac Suibhne of Kiltimagh, assisted by Sean O’Neill of Balla and Jamie Rooney of Ballina Stephenites.
The Mayo contingent competing for Connacht on the day includes: Peter Egan (Kilmovee), Tom Fleming (Charlestown), Padraig Keogh (Tooreen), Paddy O'Connor (Shrule/Glencorrib) and Liam O’Boyle (Knockmore).
Wheelchair Hurling Camogie continues to grow across the province, and new players are always welcome. Any wheelchair user interested in getting involved should come along to Kiltimagh to see how the game is played and if they wish can join the Connacht panel. Regular training sessions taking place at Barnacarroll Community Sports Centre and Charlestown Sports Complex.
