Ardagh Community Players return to the stage next weekend for what promises to be a highly entertaining run.
Their latest production, a three-act comedy Scottish play, , is brought to life by a gathering of well-known local faces.
, a comedy in three acts by James Scotland, relocates to Rosserk Abbey. Here an order of monks led by Abbot Martin need to provide an impressive show to win the support of a potential benefactor.
The audience will follow the adventures of Brothers Barnabas, Donatus and Simon, who, with the help of an ancient book of spells, try to fulfil the Abbot’s wishes. Will alchemy provide the answer?
The untimely arrival of the formidable Inspector General of the Order along with various other unwilling (and only too willing) visitors complicate their efforts. Magic and mayhem ensue in this rollicking farce.
This play premiered at the Edinburgh Festival in 1968 and has been performed almost a hundred times; winning the Dollar Trophy at the Scottish Full-Length Final of 1969 and also, with great acclaim, featured in the Dundalk International Festival.
