Novelist to tour Mayo in coming weeks

Dr Arthur Broomfield will tour Mayo with his new novel.

Laois novelist Dr Arthur Broomfield will be promoting his new novel, An Ireland of Snakes and Bollards, on a tour of the county Mayo over the coming weeks.

The controversial work has been compared to Beckett, Swift and Flann O’Brien’s humorous satire. It’s been commended by author and broadcaster John McKenna, actress and novelist Jeananne Crowley and political journalist John Drennan. The work is ‘outrageous and downright funny...The vitality of Broomfield’s writing imbues the Irish tradition of satire with the vigour of 21st century humour'.

"This will be my sixth tour of county Mayo with my books. I’ve made many friends across the county and look forward to meeting them again. I’ll be calling to all towns in the county," says the much-loved poet and novelist.

An Ireland of Snakes and Bollards is sure to make you laugh. Watch out for Arthur as he tours the county.
