Nineteen local musicians take to Ballina stage
Gerry Ring is among the performers at the Music@Lunchtime gig in Ballina Arts Centre on November 15th.
This summer’s Music@Lunchtime series in Ballina Arts Centre featured a huge number of local musicians and artists, both new and well known.
The Wednesday lunchtime concerts were so popular, that the centre put on an extra month of shows, and from June to September a truly diverse range of local talent took part.
Fans of the shows will get a second chance to see the artists in action on Friday, November 15th, when all 19 musicians who performed in the series will come back for one special show, the Music@Lunchtime (After Dark Sessions).
Audiences can look forward the relaxed atmosphere of the Music@Lunchtime specials, as well as a fantastic variety of music, and a rousing finale when all the artists will perform together. Music on the night will include local powerhouse of the blues, Billie Forde; singalong songs from Gerry Ring; a pitch perfect piano performance from William Reape; laid back acoustic guitar from Alan Cahney; the spell-weaving magic of Liz Jackson’s fiddle; astounding acapella from Note-Orious 4; original guitar music from Ralph Harrison; unusual arrangements of well-known classics from Suze; Neapolitan folk music from Giuliano Gnagnatti; the delicate flute of Sharon Ni Chuilibin; jazz and folk music from the Out of Quay ensemble; intriguing new music from Joe Clarke; the laid back guitar of Dave Walsh; recitations of his own work by Tommy Cooke; and Cian Corbett’s modern classics on keyboard and vocals, as well as songs from the musicals and opera with Maureen Lawlor.
The lineup truly does offer something for everyone, and all monies raised will go to the artists. So come along and support the people who gave you music for free all summer long at Ballina Arts Centre. Tickets priced at an incredible €10 are available online or at the box office on 096-73593.
